Hunter or Sasquatch? Finding Bigfoot episode in Upper Michigan

MENOMINEE -- On Sunday night Animal Planet aired an episode of Finding Bigfoot titled Super Yooper Sasquatch.

The team traveled outside of Menominee to meet with hunting guide Craig Sulk who owns 80 acres of land. One of Sulk's trail cams captured an unexplainable dark figure.

Is the dark figure a hunter or Sasquatch?

In the episode they also hold a meeting with residents, discovering many claim to have encountered the mysterious creature.

The segment aired at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday evening and 12 and 5 a.m. Monday. - Source: http://www.uppermichiganssource.com/news/story.aspx?id=996300#.UvSK6fvHW31

Undebunking Bigfoot blog commentary:

The photo's owner Craig Sulk argued strongly on the "Super Yooper" Finding Bigfoot episode, that the dark figure in the photograph was not likely a hunter, as the snapshot was a unique sight among the many thousands of trail photos he views each year. Plus he notes, it was taken on his private property, where he contended it's well known around those parts, not to trespass because the area is protected by its gun-toting owners.

The Finding Bigfoot team placed stocky 6'4" James "Bobo" Fay at the same location as the pictured figure, in what investigator Cliff Barackman estimated was within a few feet, five tops, of where the original pictured subject stood. The figure was determined to be very comparable in overall size to Fay, certainly looking to haven't had quite as broad of shoulders as the large Finding Bigfoot investigator did. Bobo's more than average size aside, (a height that would only take Michael Jordan two inches above Fay when side-by-side and certainly Jordan is less wide)  it was clear from the comparison photo shot---that Bobo---was just that---Bobo---the human---wearing clothes---and bearing no resemblance to the dark figure's hue.

After the recreation, Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) founder and Finding Bigfoot investigator, Matt Moneymaker, argued:
The fact that it's his [Bobo's] size or smaller though, doesn't eliminate the chance that it's a Sasquatch, because they're also that size as well. They grow from being very small to growing up. I think if it had been a person, I think you'd see a difference in the amount of reflectivity, or darkness between the top and the bottom there and you don't. It's as if it's all covered with the same color fur.

The cover of the PG Fold-out Post Card by Daniel Perez
Daniel Perez has put together a fold-out post card featuring photographs of the Patterson/Gimlin Film Site from various years.  The card features photographs by John Green, Peter Byrne, Walt Deeds, Warren Thompson, and Daniel Perez.  Each photograph is fascinating, not only for their historical value, but also to see how the location has gradually become unrecognizable over time.

To obtain one of these collectible cards, send $5.50 via Paypal (only via Paypal, no checks or anything else will be accepted) to Daniel Perez's email address, perez952@sbcglobal.net.  There is a limit of ONE per customer, and supplies are very limited.

A must-have for any collector of
Bluff Creek history!

New Mexico Sasquatch Thermal Analysis

The recreation on "Finding Bigfoot" put the figure at 7 to 7 1/2 feet tall.

Russian Boys Film Bigfoot/Yeti

In the latest issue of the Bigfoot Times, veteran Bigfoot researcher Daniel Perez, writes, "I find the Russian video extremely interesting: multiple witnesses, a film of the subject, tracks in the snow and evidence of something altering the trees/bushes in the exact proximity of where the subject was seen." It was shown on one TV program I watched that Igor Burtsev estimates the height of the figure at 7 feet based on bite marks he believes it made on one of the trees it is seen by. Chewing on tree branches is a behavior his research indicates is consistent with the Yeti.

Lake Worth Monster Photo

In an 2006 Fort Worth Star-Telegram article, Bud Kennedy, reported that the man who took this photo, Allen Plaster, stated, "'Looking back, I realize that when we drove by, it stood up...Whatever it was, it wanted to be seen. That was a prank. That was somebody out there waiting for people to drive by. I don’t think an animal would have acted that way." However, the article goes on to note that he gave the only copy of the photo to "to Sallie Ann Clarke of Benbrook, who not only saw the monster but wrote a homespun book, The Lake Worth Monster of Greer Island, Ft. Worth, Texas." Clarke states in the article that "she thinks she has Plaster’s original photo somewhere. She also stuck by her story and said that Plaster now laughs it off out of embarrassment. 'We all saw that thing at the lake that summer,' she said. 'A lot of people saw it.'"

In his book Bigfoot: Encounters Past & Present veteran Bigfoot investigator, Daniel Perez, of BigfootTimes.net states that this is what he "was able to learn talking with the late Sallie Ann Clarke by telephone."
Allen Plaster, then about 34, was out "monster hunting," and Sallie had met him "numerous times." The monster was in a ditch when the picture was taken. It was shot from the driver's side from a car on a dirt road. Two witnesses were present. Because it was in a ditch with weeds and grass noted in the picture it is seen from the waist up. It is a Polaroid picture, so there is no negative. It was stated based on a tree to the right of the subject, the animal was about 7 feet 2 inches tall and white in color. Could it have been an albino Bigfoot?

On cryptomundo.com, New York investigator Brian Gaugler, had this to say in response to Bud Kennedy's article:
As usual for the skeptical side, Mr. Kennedy fails to think his arguments through very carefully. First, the Lake Worth Monster was witnessed by many people, and you’re telling me none of them could tell that this was a supposed gorilla suit? (not to mention that the description sounds nothing like a gorilla suit) What about the goat hooves and other unusual details, how did the alleged pranksters even walk around much less run as fast as the monster did? If the technology didn’t exist in 1967 to make as convincing a creature as appeared in the Patterson-Gimlin film, then I highly doubt some teenagers in 1969 would have been able to make a suit so convincing that it fooled dozens of people. Secondly, and maybe this is my own ignorance, but I’m unsure how someone in a gorilla suit would have been able to toss a tire 500 feet, and on a separate occasion, swim to Greer Island, since suits like that usually tend to limit mobility, not make them into an Olympic athlete. Third, I have to agree with Clarke and say that Plaster may be downplaying his sighting and photo out of embarrassment, after all there is still a certain stigma in our society to look down our noses at anyone who has had an unusual experience. To explain away the entire Lake Worth Monster event as just sightings of a bobcat and stupid teens in a gorilla suit is as insulting to those who genuinely reported something they couldn’t explain, as the government’s “explanation” that a witness who reported observing a fast-moving, disc-shaped craft in reality actually just saw the planet Venus!

Bigfoot Research with John Green

Published on Jan 14, 2014

John Green is a Canadian retired journalist and a leading researcher into the Bigfoot phenomenon. He is a graduate of both the University of British Columbia and Columbia University and has a database of more than 3000 sighting and track reports, leading some to affectionately refer to him as "Mr. Sasquatch." Green first began investigating Sasquatch sightings and track finds in 1957 after meeting René Dahinden and the two researchers collaborated in interviewing witnesses and sharing information of alleged sightings. A year later Green was shown a series of 15" tracks crossing a sandbar beside Bluff Creek in California so deeply impressed as to indicate a weight many times that of any potential hoaxer. He has been trying ever since to establish what it is that makes the tracks. Green is also the only surviving person to have investigated the original Sasquatch tracks reported in Bluff Creek, California in the summer of 1958. source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Willison_Green#Sasquatch_Investigation_work
