Reviewing the film Abominable from the perspective of a Bigfoot hunting cis white male

It's cute and funny. Now to the big questions. Why are Yeti as tall as skyscrapers? Why do Chinese people all speak English? Why do the only white people in the movie have to be the villians, with the ginger girl being a steretypical bucked tooth British one? And as (for lack of a better term) magical     as I think Sasquatch is, I have my doubts they can glow while meditating causing food to grow giant in size. Nor do I think they gave the ability to fly on clouds. That is all.

'Expedition Bigfoot' set to track down Sasquatch

Will the 'Expedition Bigfoot' team be successful ? Image Credit: Steve Bexter / Pexels

A new TV series will follow a team of Bigfoot hunters as they attempt to find evidence of the creature's existence.

Bigfoot hunting shows have been a dime a dozen over the last few years, however despite the number of film crews out there looking for evidence of a large bipedal hominid in the forests of North America, so far nobody has actually managed to find anything conclusive.

Expedition Bigfoot, which will premiere tonight (Dec 8th) at 10 p.m. ET/PT on the Travel Channel, is aiming to change all that by using state-of-the-art equipment and powerful data algorithms to calculate exactly when and where these elusive creatures are most likely to be seen.

The first episode will focus on a 90,000-acre 'hot zone' around Ochoco National Forest in Central Oregon - a state where there have traditionally been a large number of sightings.

The team will consist of actor and producer Bryce Johnson, veteran primatologist Mireya Mayor and Bigfoot researchers Ronny LeBlanc and Russell Acord.

Whether they will actually find any definitive evidence of the creature however remains to be seen.

You can check out an interview with Mayor and LeBlanc below.

I set up the 1st one to tape...I'm always optimistic they'll work in a methodical way and look for real evidence. Gotta give them a chance.
Comment icon #3 Posted by TrumanB on 12/8/2019

Good luck. I hope that they will find something.

I suspect you are right about this.  If there's a TV Series to be made, it will be mostly night-time infrared, with unexplained noises out of shot.

I’m watching the first episode now.  It is similar to other shows like it that have been done before.  It reminds me of the Autumn Williams show that was done a couple decades ago.  They have enough budget to be using some pretty sophisticated  equipment.  It seems like it’s worth watching if you are into such things.  They have at least one piece of evidence in the form of a thermal image film of what they consider to be a sasquatch.
Comment icon #6 Posted by Carnoferox on 12/9/2019

How is this any different from Finding Bigfoot? Even the composition of the team (3 male bigfooters, 1 female skeptic) is the same.
Comment icon #7 Posted by ThereWeAreThen on 12/9/2019

Why give them a chance? How many "expeditions' have we had now? How much evidence has been uncovered?  I sincerely hope I'm wrong. But nothing will happen. Maybe a few crew  members will make some noise in the distance, make some tracks and maybe throw things. Christ it's exactly like ghost hunting. Chasing nothing but your imagination and other peoples money.
Comment icon #8 Posted by Socio on 12/9/2019

I recorded it last night and will watch it today I admit I like these kind of shows. However I would like to see one where they have a team of professional hunters and trackers and perhaps an animal biologist and or primatologist that does not go out on a one or two night investigation but goes out to the farthest reaches for two three months at a time. If there is something to find it is not going to be found camping overnight just outside of town with a thermal camera and making howling noises.
Comment icon #9 Posted by Guyver on 12/9/2019

At least they’re not out in the woods at night making ridiculous howling noises and setting up disco lights.  So far...

Or a bunch of fat hillbillies armed with shotguns.
Comment icon #11 Posted by onlookerofmayhem on 12/9/2019

I've always wondered what would actually happen if they did find anything tangible.  Would it really stay secret enough to be revealed in a TV episode months later? Wouldn't it be all over the world news within a few hours? All these years and all these shows they have collectively found absolutely nothing.

NINGEN: video evidence

The story of the Ningen was born when a team of Japanese scientists traveled to Antarctica to research whales. The expedition encountered a massive, unknown aquatic creature in the icy waters. The creature was as white as snow. Other than its colossal size, they claimed its body structure was almost humanoid in form. Thus, the creature was dubbed “ningen”, a Japanese word meaning “human”. Eyewitnesses estimated the length somewhere between 20 to 30 meters, or 66 to 98 feet. Subsequent expeditions have also allegedly encountered the ningen. Descriptions vary on a few details. Some claim the creature has arms. A few have even reported seeing hand and fingers. Others have reported seeing long fins but no arms. There have even been claims the ningen was seen standing upright on two legs. Such discrepancies no doubt raise suspicion on eye witness testimony. Yet these discrepancies alone ought not necessarily lead us to the conclusion that the eye witnesses were seeing things – or that they were lying about what they think they saw. Humans are notoriously bad at accurately recounting specific details from memory. This is why witness testimony is not considered to be as reliable as, say, video evidence in a court of law. Though video may be given more weight than witness testimony in court, it’s not necessarily an iron-clad form of evidence either. It’s no secret that – given the know-how and proper equipment, a pretty convincing video hoax can be created. When viewing the following clips, it’s prudent to keep this in mind. To date, there are only 3 known clips of the illusive beast. in this video, we will take a look at all 3 and analyze each. Clip number 1 is highly compressed, which is an immediate red flag, and I was unable to find any information on the original source. Though I can’t prove it’s a hoax, its authenticity is questionable at best. Clip number 2 is much higher quality than the last clip. The earliest source I could find was an upload from 2006. However, the 2006 upload appears to be a reupload. Rumor has it that the original source was a Japanese animation company, but I couldn’t find any hard evidence of that claim either. Clip number 3 came from JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology). Though the footage is authentic, there’s quite a bit of debate over exactly what this thing actually is… While many believe it to show the illusive Ningen, various other explanations have been offered. Some claim the object in question is a manatee. However, manatees are only found in much warmer waters and are not found this far south. Another possibility offered was that the object is nothing more than a stone formation with 2 sea creatures situated on either side – giving the appearance of eyes. This possibility is certainly more plausible than the manatee explanation and can’t be ruled out. The last possibility frequently mentioned is that the object is a beluga whale. Beluga whales do inhabit icy waters, but only in the northern sub-arctic and arctic region. In addition to this, beluga whales do not fit the anatomical profile of whatever is seen here. The last possibility is that whatever this is – is another species altogether that is also unknown to science. Given the vastness of earth’s oceans, and the fact that we know far more about the surface of the moon than we do about our own oceans, this possibility is not so far-fetched. After all, we are constantly finding new aquatic creatures that have never been previously cataloged. But at the end of the day, whatever is seen in clip 3 remains inconclusive. So which of these explanations do you think is the most likely? Let me know in the comment section below. Do the Dog-Headed Men Have Souls? // Letter from 9th Century Monk // Primary Source

In the 9th century famed Carolingian theologian Ratramnus was written a letter enquiring as to whether the Cynocephaly (the Dog-headed men) had souls. Here we bring you his considered response, taking into account the many different examples of creatures on earth known to him at that time. How do we actually know about history? Voices of the Past is a channel dedicated to recreating the original accounts from the people who lived through events, or who lived far closer to them than we do today. We do this word for word, with an accompanying soundtrack of rousing music and images.

The Occult #237: The Yeti (Remoteness as the Basis of Cryptid Claims)

Missing 411 Movie

Based on the books series written by David Paulides Missing 411 chronicles the unsolved yet eerily similar disappearances of five children in the wilds of North America accross multiple decades. A real-life horror story for those involved, the film examines each case from multiple perspectives in an attempt to shed light on the unsettling topic. Les Stroud of Survivorman and Obama-appointed, former Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar are both interviewed for their insight into the topic, as are the families who have fallen victim to tragedy.

KIRKUS REVIEW
The far-famed Ostman tale of how he was kidnapped by a Sasquatch family and held for six days rivals Patricia Hearst's story in its freakish possibilities: if only one knew what to believe. Grumley seems to accept Ostman's version, and a great many other fables about the Bigfoot and the other varieties of folklore Brobdingnagians -- the Yeti (known to us Occidentals as the Abominable Snowman) and the Mono Grande (the boogeyman of South America). It's all a serious affair to him, and he offers analyses of feces, foot structure, giant jawbones, and recites such mouthfuls as Gigantopithecus. Sure, he says, a lot of the stories are just old yarns spun by old yarn-spinners; and what was thought to be the pseudo-man himself in Brazil may well have been a member of the Kreen Akrore, a tribe of reclusive bush Indians who paint themselves black. But the giant is still out there, and we have only to look to our own mythologies to hear of him: Gilgamesh, Genesis, and Norse and Greek legends. And let us protect him when we see him: he is, after all, a blood brother. Aside from the fact that Grumley is easily distracted by chakras, the sexual habits of anglerfish and prehistoric birds, he spins a good yarn himself.

Review of 'Last Chance Detectives: Legend of the Desert Bigfoot'

The acting... I've seen worse, but it's meh. There is a veterinarian character in the movie who thinks it is very possible that Bigfoot exists, so that's notable. Good families values are expressed in the film, as can be expected by a "focus on the family" presentation. Pretty entertaining overall. Not too bad.

Another Bigfoot movie review and yet again the main thing I have to report is that the 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film holds up. Here is the Desert Bigfoot film crew's failed attempt at a recreation...

The Patterson-Gimlin films authenticity is supported by a full Professor of anatomy and anthropology and expert on foot morphology along with locomotion in primates, Dr. Jeff Meldrum. In this video he takes on debunking arguments and explains why the 10 footprint casts collected at the site solidifies the case that the figure in the video is a real Bigfoot.

Furthermore, there is the film analysis of Bill Munns and National Geographic showing the subject's proportions do not match that of any known human. This is coupled with his experimental work trying to build A Bigfoot costume to match the look of the 1967 film, resulting in his co-authorship of a peer-reviewed paper with Meldrum showing that the film subject is consistent with real anatomy and not a Bigfoot suit. Munns studied film and worked for 35 years making monsters for films, museums, and wildlife exhibits, thus is also highly-qualified for the study have done. Their conclusions cannot be dismissed.

Review of 'The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot'

This movie is not a joke. It takes itself very seriously. It's very touching actually. Those that are into NAZI conspiracy theories and Bigfoot should like it very much. It's silly to think, as the movie suggests, that there is only one being known as Bigfoot as opposed to a species, or is it!?!?! Maybe the movie is right in its premise in this regard. Now take a look at this picture from the film I took...

This is what Hollywood has to offer in 2019!?!?! This speaks volumes of the famous film from 1967...

For the first time, an #IndianArmy Moutaineering Expedition Team has sited Mysterious Footprints of mythical beast 'Yeti' measuring 32x15 inches

Hat tip to the Spooky Weather Blog for alerting me to this news...

Indian army's claim to have found footprints of yeti prompts ridicule

Previous scientific studies have concluded the origins of yeti stories, which have been told for centuries, are based on real animals.

The results of a DNA analysis of supposed yeti samples – including hair, fur and faeces – published in 2017, showed the samples were from Himalayan and Tibetan subspecies of brown bear and an Asian black bear.

In 2011, a “yeti finger” found in Nepal in the 1950s was revealed by a genetic expert to have been human bone...

Very cool! Stupid article though. It would be fair to mention this omitted item...

The following year his team returned to the Himilayas and recovered a hair sample that was DNA tested as being from a primate, but was excluded as being human."
On April 21, 2008, Josh Gates traveled to Walt Disney World in Florida to meet with Joe Rohde, Executive Designer of Walt Disney Imagineering. Gates presented Rohde with a cast of the "Yeti" footprint. The cast will soon be placed on display at Expedition Everest, a Himalayan-themed, high-speed, coaster-like attraction where guests come face-to-face with a Yeti.[5]

This same geneticist also concluded North American Bigfoot is a human species as well, so that should also be worth a mention and Twitter hardly blew up with ridicule. The main person they quoted of three was asking a legitimate question, not mocking and the top rated reply answered him quite well. Mainstream media messes everything up!

Black leopard spotted in Africa for first time in 100 years

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC:

They say that black cats bring bad luck, but when Nick Pilfold heard about one lurking around central Kenya, he knew he was onto something special.
The Kenya-based biologist and his team deployed a set of camera traps throughout the bushlands of Loisaba Conservancy in early 2018. It wasn’t long before he got what he was looking for: undeniable proof of a super-rare melanistic leopard.
The juvenile female was spotted traveling with a larger, normally colored leopard, presumed to be her mother.
The opposite of albinism, melanism is the result of a gene that causes a surplus of pigment in the skin or hair of an animal so that it appears black. Melanistic leopards have been reported in and around Kenya for decades, but scientific confirmation of their existence remains quite rare.

BEAR FACTS – AND OTHER CREATURE COMFORTS W/ KEN GERHARD

A 3-year-old boy who went missing earlier this week told his family that he “hung out in the woods with a bear" for two days. Curiously, there have been similar stories throughout history of large and hairy animals taking care of children while they were lost in the wilderness. There appears to be a caring nature to such rare and wild animals - the "bear" facts may be more in line with mysterious creature comforts.

Three-year-old boy missing in woods for two days says friendly bear kept him safe

THE GUARDIAN:

A three-year-old boy who survived two nights alone in the woods in freezing conditions has told police and family he was helped out by a friendly bear that was with him the whole time.
Rescuers responding to reports of a baby crying found Casey Hathaway tangled up in thorny bushes, cold and soaked but safe on Thursday night. He had gone missing on Tuesday in conditions so bad the subsequent search had to be called off.
As it turned out, help – perhaps real, perhaps imaginary but certainly useful – was at hand in those woods in North Carolina, a state that is home to plenty of black bears. Craven county sheriff Chip Hughes said Casey “did say that he had a friend in the woods that was a bear that was with him”.
The claim was reportedly repeated by the boy’s aunt Breanna Hathaway. “He said he hung out with a bear for two days,” Hathaway wrote in a Facebook post. “God sent him a friend to keep him safe. God is a good God. Miracles do happen.”
Hughes said the boy had been playing with two other children in his grandmother’s backyard in Ernul on Tuesday, but did not come inside with them.

Brutal weather conditions in the low 20s (Fahrenheit) and concerns Casey wasn’t dressed for the cold sparked a search that involved helicopters, drones, K-9 units and divers, as well as hundreds of volunteers. By Thursday the wind and rain had become so bad authorities urged volunteers to stay away.
“He’s a survivor,” said Hughes on Friday, pointing out that rescuers had to wade through waist-high water to reach the boy, who stands at 2ft 2in (66cm). Casey escaped with just a few scrapes and simply wanted some water and his mother, he said.

Provo Bigfoot Size Comparison & Tracks Found - Bigfoot in Provo ZOOM STABLE

ThinkerThunker
Great work guys! That guy looks big!

Gary H
That was no man in a suit that's for sure. The steepness of the mountain would have been too much. Great job thanks

james bateman
try 3 feet taller than you , you have to remember you are not close to the camera , so ya it is big .

D9everything
The SIZE. How would you fake that? That's what people never really get about these things. Then you see one next to a cow and it hits you. That's when you really get it.

Shiver
People do. Stilts, arm extenders, elaborate costumes, etc. Not saying That's what this is, but knowing how hoaxers hoax is important.

Reply Pacific Northwest Nomad Give aways soon!!! @Shiver
Yea on a hill in the snow! It's hard walking up there with boots, I know I've been hunting 27 years and that's tough walking, add extentions? People will shoot a so called Bigfoot so that would be a very dumb thing, the chances of someone doing that there in that spot on that massive mountain are slim to none!!

twodogs716
After seeing the comparison research by RMSO, I have to believe whoever / whatever it is is really BIG. They show some found footprints, although they are not perfect.

Pacific Northwest Nomad Give aways soon!!!
I'm an elk hunter mainly and I can most certainly tell you that's a very large animal! Good shot bud, there seem to be a lot of them in Provo Utah....
