New 2007 Manitoba Bigfoot Video

Here is a video making case for the authenticity of this video from an individual associated with the group that has made many similar analysis videos, including one where he was apparently fooled by a hoax. That said, each of his analyses should be judged on their own merits.

New Manitoba Bigfoot Video

As we rapidly approach the two year anniversary of the Manitoba Bigfoot Video shot by Bobby Clarke on April 16, 2005, there is news of a new alleged Bigfoot video from Manitoba.

The footage is hosted on metacafe. I have not seen any news of this footage in the media, so perhaps it is suspect.

Following is the text that Doug Thomas, the gentleman who claims to have shot the footage along with his son, has posted with the alleged Bigfoot video on metacafe.
This footage was captured in Peguis Manitoba Canada. My son and I were going out to cut some wood as we came over the ridge we could see something crossing the road by time my boy got the camera out it this is what we captured.Doug Thomas
I have contacted Mr. Thomas and requested additional details regarding his alleged Bigfoot video.
Following is the reply I received.
I guess I should make this clear first I’m not claiming that its “Bigfoot or Sasquatch,” I just don’t know?
There really isn’t much more that I can say about the footage, my boy and I were heading out to the gravel pits to cut some firewood. On the way over a ridge we could see something crossing the road on the next ridge probably about 400 yards away.
I slowed down and told my boy to grab my camcorder from the back seat. By the time he had it going what ever we saw had already walked across the road behind a mound of rocks.
What you see in the video is clearer then what I actually saw because we were so far away. The “creature” quickly disappeared into the woods and what we seen the video is the last we saw of it.
We stopped and shouted, “who’s there?” with no response. I remember looking at the tracks but don’t recall anything abnormal about them, it just looked like where someone had walked through the snow. I should have videoed the tracks but didn’t even think of it at the time. Doug Thomas
Here is the link to the video on metacafe for those that aren’t able to view the video here on Cryptomundo.

Marble Mountains Bigfoot Footage

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Kevin Withers:
This report was originally submitted by a friend of a friend of the witness. Through these friends I was able to contact the witness and speak to him at length about his sighting, both on the phone and in person. On Friday, October 5, 2001, fellow BFRO Investigator Montra DuMond and I visited the witness, who graciously agreed to transfer his video from camera onto VCR tape for us.

The sighting took place in July 2000, in the 241,744 acre Marble Mountain Wilderness Area, located in the Klamath National Forest roughly twenty miles west of Yreka, California, and twenty miles south of the Oregon border. The Marble Mountain Wilderness Area has rocky peaks, meadows, large streams, and eighty-nine lakes. At least one-third of the Wilderness is wooded, with tanbark oak, madrone, and Douglas fir lower down, and whitebark pine, foxtail pine, and mountain hemlock higher up. Alpine meadows and bare rock are found in the highest elevations. Bear, deer, and many other species of wildlife are plentiful. The Pacific Crest Trail crosses the entire Wilderness for thirty-two miles, north to south.

The witness is a security guard at a high school. He is also involved with the "Campus Life" organization. On a number of occasions he has taken kids, some of them disabled or disadvantaged, on camping trips to the Marble Mountain Wilderness Area. On this occasion there were eighteen people: The witness, his wife, another adult male, and fifteen kids, including the witness' son.

After making camp, the witness left the group and went on a short solo hike. He spotted a flat area at an elevation of 6126 feet that he thought might make a better campsite, so he hiked up to it. Upon reaching it he came across a hut that was built out of long pine boughs three to four inches in diameter that had been snapped off of trees, along with trees up to eight inches in diameter that had been snapped in two. None of these boughs or trees showed clean cuts that would indicate the use of a saw, ax, or other tool. The freshness of the needles on the boughs indicated that the hut had been built very recently. It was obvious that a great deal of effort had gone into constructing the hut, which the witness described as "perfectly built."

The hut was built using a small stand of trees for support. It was approximately six feet high, ten feet wide, and fifteen feet long, and had a floor covered with shredded off pine needles. It had a large front opening, and a smaller opening near the rear. No odor was noticed in or around the hut. About thirty feet away was what appeared to be a fire pit constructed of very large stones; the fire pit looked as though it had never been used.

The witness returned to camp and brought the group up to show them the hut. While there, he used his Sony video camera to make a detailed videotape of the structure, including close-up footage of both the exterior and interior.

The witness had just finished videotaping the structure when his son pointed to a mountain ridge and cried out "He's walking down now! He's walking down right now!"

The witness immediately began videotaping a figure approximately one mile away (witness' estimate), walking down a ridge from a rocky summit 7405 feet in elevation.

In the video footage, the subject is visible for a full three minutes. It's walking from right to left down a distant ridge, but because of the distance the image of the subject is small and not very detailed. At times the image quality deteriorates, becoming pixilated as the witness' camera passes into the "digital zoom" mode when it exceeds the magnification capabilities of the zoom lens. However, the quality of the tape is good enough that a number of important details can be seen.

The subject's arms are long; its hands reach down about to its knees. You can also see that it has a white chest and stomach, contrasting with the dark color of the rest of its body. It appears to be tall and thin - not at all as stocky or robust as you might expect. You can see no facial features at all, although you can see that the head is pointed on top.

The subject's gait shows a bent knee type of motion; however, this would also be the case with a human because of the downhill slope of the ridge. You can see the hunched over posture of the subject which, along with the way that it walked, is somewhat reminiscent of both the Freeman footage and the Patterson footage. At times its movements appear very inhuman.

As the subject slowly picks its way down the ridge, it appears to be distraught at the sight of people examining its hut far down below. It moves back and forth, swinging its arms wildly and, at one point, momentarily puts its hands to its head as if terribly anguished. The subject then continues down the ridge, disappearing from view behind a rocky cliff.

During this sighting, no one in the group felt frightened. That night there were no signs of a visitation to the campsite by this creature. The next day the witness hiked up to the ridge but did not find any tracks because the ground surface was so rocky.

This area is open cattle range, and the day that the witness and his group left for home after the sighting, some cattle had just been released into the area.

One year later (July, 2001) the witness revisited the area and found that the hut was gone. The ground where the hut had been was disturbed, possibly by horses, and there was a twenty-five foot long rock lined fire pit nearby where it appeared that wood had been burned.

To my knowledge, this is by far the longest piece of video ever taken of a bigfoot. At three full minutes, it is much longer than the Patterson film. However, the video is not nearly as detailed as the Patterson film, simply because the subject was so far away. In addition, the camera had trouble adjusting to the lighting conditions. The video was taken late in the day, so the mountain that the subject was on was dark, yet the sky was still very light. The camera tried to compensate for a scene that was dark in the lower half and light in the upper half. The result is that the subject appears pretty much in silhouette form, with not a lot of detail visible. However, the footage does show some detail, and more importantly it provides a rare glimpse into the mind of a bigfoot, showing its reaction to a human intrusion into its domain.

Bigfoot are notoriously camera shy. It is unknown whether bigfoot know what cameras are or what cameras do; it may well be that bigfoot confuse cameras with guns, which they seem to be very familiar with. Regardless, this "bigfoot camera shyness" explains why so few images have been taken of bigfoot over the years. The reason this witness was able to videotape a bigfoot for an extended period of time may be that the bigfoot was unable to see the witness' camera because of the distance involved. The witness stated that, to the naked eye, the bigfoot looked like a "black speck" on the ridge top.

The video footage accompanying this report is currently being analyzed by the BFRO and won't be released to the public until this analysis is complete. However, in the interim we've posted several still shots from the video (see link above).

Part of our analysis of this footage may involve a reconstruction of the sighting, where a human of known height is videotaped up on the same ridge, using the same camera that the original footage was taped on. In comparing the sizes of the two images, we hope to be able to ascertain the height of the subject in the original footage, and if its height is determined to be significantly greater than six feet, then the evidence that it is indeed a bigfoot will be even stronger. At that time, we may release the video footage of both the original sighting and the reconstruction, in a split screen format, so that the differences between the two images are obvious.

Incidentally, this technique was successfully applied to the Patterson footage, resulting in a height estimate of around 6.5 feet for "Patty."

At this moment the reconstruction portion of the analysis has yet to be planned, so the release of the video footage to the public may be some time off. However, this report will continue to be updated as our analysis progresses.

A thorough reconstruction and analysis of the Marble Mountain footage was done in October 2004, and the data gathered showed a height of between six and seven feet for the figure on the ridge. However, comparative measurements may still show some oddities of limb proportions.

This report is probably going to remain "as is" for the time being, pending any further discoveries regarding limb length and proportions. Since the height of the figure has not been found to be outside normal human range, the video is not a

NORWAY HOUSE, MAN. - Hundreds of residents of Norway House First Nation in Manitoba are convinced the Bigfoot legend is real after a local man captured a strange creature on videotape.

Ferry operator Bobby Clarke was taking a vehicle barge across the Nelson River at the northern end of Lake Winnipeg Saturday morning when he noticed something on the shore.

John Henry: "It's not a bear or human walking around."
He grabbed his camcorder and shot a 49-second clip of a tall, dark humanoid-like figure moving on the riverbank.

"It's not a bear or human walking around," said Clarke's father-in-law, John Henry. "You can tell by the features."

People who have seen the video say the figure is three-metres tall and resembles past descriptions of the legendary shy, hairy giant long rumoured to inhabit remote woodlands in western parts of North America.

"Couple of my friends and cousins have seen it, and some of them, first didn't believe in anything like that," said Joey Robertson. "When they seen the video, it convinced them."

But local residents flocking to Clarke's house to see the video are now coming away disappointed.

The Clarke family has stopped showing the videotape, saying they're arranging for an expert to enhance the video as they hold out for the best cash offer from a media agency.

Offers have already come in from places ranging from Florida to Toronto, they say.

Linda Queskekavow, one of Clarke's neighbours, says there's nothing to be worried about even if it turns out that Norway House is home to the legendary Bigfoot, also known by its Canadian name Sasquatch (meaning "wild man" or "hairy man" in the Salish language).

"That Sasquatch is not harmful," said Queskekavow, who saw the videotape. "I think it's scared of people."

Close Encounters with Bigfoot (Documentary)

Published on Feb 25, 2014
A look at some of the most compelling eyewitness accounts of close encounters with Bigfoot, from Minnesota to Washington state, witnesses are interviewed and evidence is tested to find out what people are seeing in the forests.

Bigfoot, also known as sasquatch, is the name given to an ape-like creature that some people believe inhabits forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid. The term sasquatch is an anglicized derivative of the Halkomelem word ssqets.

Bigfoot is described in reports as a large hairy ape-like creature, in a range of 6--10 feet (2--3 m) tall, weighing in excess of 500 pounds (230 kg), and covered in dark brown or dark reddish hair. Purported witnesses have described large eyes, a pronounced brow ridge, and a large, low-set forehead the top of the head has been described as rounded and crested, similar to the sagittal crest of the male gorilla. Bigfoot is commonly reported to have a strong, unpleasant smell by those who claim to have encountered it. The enormous footprints for which it is named have been as large as 24 inches (60 cm) long and 8 inches (20 cm) wide. While most casts have five toes — like all known apes — some casts of alleged Bigfoot tracks have had numbers ranging from two to six. Some have also contained claw marks, making it likely that a portion came from known animals such as bears, which have five toes and claws. Proponents claim that Bigfoot is omnivorous and mainly nocturnal.

Various types of creatures have been suggested to explain both the sightings and what type of creature Bigfoot would be if it existed. The scientific community typically attributes sightings to either hoaxes or misidentification of known animals and their tracks. While cryptozoologists generally explain Bigfoot as an unknown ape, some believers in Bigfoot attribute the phenomenon to UFOs or other paranormal causes.

'Finding Bigfoot:' BFRO views 1962 Bigfoot video in Colorado

Bigfoot Researchers James 'Bobo' Fay, Ranae Holland, Cliff Barackman and founder and president of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Matt Moneymaker speak at the 'Finding Bigfoot' discussion panel
There was a new episode of “Finding Bigfoot” on Animal Planet Sunday night, Jan. 20, 2013. This episode was filmed in the Colorado Rockies. The reason for the choice of this location is that the BFRO wanted to view some newly released Bigfoot video footage from 1962.

This footage, although somewhat grainy, had been in this family over 50 years. The gentleman featured on the program’s late father was also his scout master. He shot the video when they were camping with the troop in the Colorado Rockies. The scoutmaster did not realize what he had shot at first, and returned to the tent. After showing it to the other leaders, the son remembers that the scouts were quite limited in their ability to move freely. He remembers a true sense of danger being communicated.

The BFRO team seemed to find the Bigfoot video footage to be believable. The man whose father shot the footage seemed quite genuine and believable, too.

Huffington Post reports what Cliff said about the Bigfoot footage:
“It seems to be hopping from rock to rock. Why would it do that? Most likely to hide its footprints,” Cliff said, adding, “Bigfoots avoid leaving their footprints in places where they could be found.”
The BFRO team on "Finding Bigfoot" kept discussing the importance of this piece of Bigfoot video in light of the dearth of video since the Patterson/Gimmler film in 1967. The Patterson/Gimmler film, sometimes called the Patterson film, has been judged to be a hoax by many. Some true believers still feel that it was a genuine and authentic film and not a man in an ape suit as many have said.

You can watch "Finding Bigfoot" on the Animal Planet on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.

Skeptic Questions Patterson Bigfoot Tracks

Posted by: Loren Coleman on June 23rd, 2008
patty tracks1patty tracks2

Talking of the photographs above, the so-called “Bigfoot Skeptic” this month writes:
These are the tracks that Patterson claimed the Bigfoot made from his famous 1967 film. Notice the toes. How smooth and perfectly shaped they are. Also notice that despite the deep impression of the foot, the only part of the toe that shows in the plaster is the round tips of the toe. No other part of the toe is seen in the deep plaster cast. This suggests that it was not made by an actual fleshly foot stepping down and putting weight down. Shouldn’t the toes smoosh into each other, not maintain a perfect round form, and show more than just the tips of the toe from such a deep impression?
Okay, first of all, do any of these debunkers do their homework? Do Bigfoot researchers realize part of the problem faced today is the “trophy” mentality and legacy of the early folks who collected Bigfoot track casts? It is good to know as much about the history of these cryptozoological artifacts, as possible, before critiquing them.

A variety of things are going on with the track casts from the Patterson-Gimlin filmsite trackway. Let’s look at two areas to pay attention to, in studying these casts.

(1) Back in the 1960s, Bob Titmus, who was the taxidermist who first began taking plaster casts of Bigfoot tracks in the Bluff Creek area, had a “trophy” mentality with regard to the footprints being cast. The absolute best track to take and keep was the one that showed the whole foot, he felt.

Most photos from the 1950s and 1960s show Bigfoot eyewitnesses holding up what were considered, at the time, the “best” casts. These were seen as the ultimate proof, because the “whole feet” casts were well-formed and perfect. (We now know the opposite is actually true. The more movement shown in a cast, the more we learn of the real animal.)

selling casts1
selling casts2
The “Patterson-Gimlin filmsite” casts most often sold today (per above) continue a tradition begun by Bob Titmus of picking out the most “perfect” casts.

perfect casts

Titmus also treated these “trophy tracks” as items to be “cleaned up” and some of the early letters talk of Titmus “scrubbing up” the casts. He wanted to have them without imprefections, to be presented as white, smooth objects. Titmus, furthermore, actually sold cast copies from the very beginning, and some examples from that time demonstrate the cast surfaces were worked on to look smooth, with plaster edges trimmed.

pgf trackway1
(2) Secondly, and perhaps more importantly in the case of these Bluff Creek tracks, there were more than just the two examples being held by Patterson above.
Roger casting
(Go here to view the clip of the film showing Roger Patterson casting these tracks and speaking of his sighting.)

Dr. Grover Krantz and Dr. Jeff Meldrum have both written extensively about how the trackway of where the Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot walked included a series of tracks. Krantz and Meldrum detailed how the filmsite track casts capture animate feet, not ones that were created by a fixed fake set of feet, as would have been expected with fake feet being used.

The skeptics and debunkers with questions about the Patterson-Gilmin film trackway casts merely have to look at the plaster of Paris imprints and the surviving photos of the filmsite that have been displayed in several books. They show little evidence of fakery, and clearly the tracks were not made by a fixed fake pair of feet.

white casts1
Krantz published the trackway casts in his books.

Mid-Tarsal Break

Meldrum, Chris Murphy, and others have brought forth photographs taken at the time of the varied tracks left at Bluff Creek on October 20, 1967. Meldrum is interested in proving his mid-tarsal break theory, but looking beyond that, study what he has published. Examine how different the tracks are, because it was a live primate, not a man in a suit wearing rigid fake feet.

How Pseudoskeptics hijack "Skepticism" to mean its opposite: Disinformation, Mind Control and Suppression

Article from
"Just look at us. Everything is backwards. Everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information, and religion destroys spirituality." - Michael Ellner
Pseudoskeptics are not just wrong and fallacious in their reasoning and approach to investigating the paranormal with outright rejection of anything that doesn't fit into a materialist orthodox paradigm. They've also, knowingly or unknowingly, engaged in deceptive mind control by hijacking critical terms to mean their OPPOSITE, including the very term "skeptic" itself. And they've hid what they truly are (suppressors of new ideas) by pretending to the opposite of what they are. Let me explain.

As mentioned earlier, a skeptic doubts, inquires, questions, ponders, etc. But these pseudoskeptics do anything but. They attack, ridicule, discredit and suppress anything and everything that challenges the materialist reductionist paradigm. But don't take my word for it. Just look at any article by James Randi, Michael Shermer, or Skeptical Inquirer, for example, and you will see that there is no questioning of what they are told, doubt or pondering of possibilities at all. All they do is ridicule and attack anything related to paranormal and psychic phenomena, holistic medicine, and conspiracies. That's not what skepticism is. The founder of the term itself meant this:
In classical philosophy, skepticism refers to the teachings and the traits of the 'Skeptikoi', a school of philosophers of whom it was said that they 'asserted nothing but only opined.' (Liddell and Scott) In this sense, philosophical skepticism, or Pyrrhonism, is the philosophical position that one should suspend judgment in investigations.[1]
And according to Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, a skeptic is:
"One who is yet undecided as to what is true; one who is looking or inquiring for what is true; an inquirer after facts or reasons."
Now, take Michael Shermer for example. He is a professional skeptic who runs a Skeptic magazine, which makes him a prominent skeptic in the movement. But does he do any of the above? Does he doubt or question authority or orthodoxy? Does he ponder possibilities and the mysteries and wonders of life? Does he engage in a nonjudgmental open search for truth? No. All he does is try to debunk and discredit anything related to the paranormal. Just look at EVERY article he writes and you will see that. Yet he is one of the "big name skeptics!" What does that tell you?!

So you see, these pseudoskeptics hijack the term "skeptic" so that it can't be used against them. By calling themselves "skeptics", they cast themselves as THE "skeptics" who question everything with critical thinking and doubt. And if you are a skeptic or critical thinker, then you will agree with them, so they hope.

Similarly, they've done the same with the terms "reason, rationality, logic, critical thinking, scientific" as well by hijacking them to fit their agenda, so that they support their agenda of discrediting anything related to paranormal, holistic or conspiratorial evidence.

In essence, what they've done is put themselves in a position of "ultimate authority" on reason, rationality, logic, critical thinking, etc. so that if you call yourself those things, then you must agree with them and their position. As such, being "reasonable and rational" means to AGREE with them. And "critical thinking" can only be used to reject what they reject, never to critique the pseudoskeptics themselves, according to their paradigm, for they are "the critiquers".

Thus, they've made it so that "critical thinking" and "skepticism" can't be used against them, because they are THE "critical thinkers and skeptics". It's a very sly form of mind control that obfuscates the terms and attempts to shield them from "criticism" by putting them in the highest position of criticism.

As such, the term "skeptic" now refers to the one who suppresses and attacks the questioner, rather than the questioner himself. In other words, the new "skeptic" is someone who debunks a "skeptic" by wearing the hat of the person they are out to debunk, in effect impersonating them! It's a highly deceptive form of role reversal that is sneaky and deceptive.

Fortunately though, the true skeptics, critical thinkers and freethinkers see through this BS and call them on it. And that's the purpose of this page, to expose this mind control and hijacking of terms to mean their opposite.

Now, I may be speculating here, but this whole movement of hijacking important words to mean their opposite, and militant suppression of new ideas, seems way too calculated and organized to be due to simple sheer human ignorance and narrow mindedness alone. Instead, it's more indicative of an agenda, such as a disinformation or mind control campaign. This isn't to say that all pseudoskeptics are disinfo agents. But some might be, either knowingly or unknowingly. You have to remember that we are all mind controlled to some degree, one way or another. Even if these pseudoskeptics are not knowingly involved in a disinfo campaign, they are likely to be mind controlled themselves by a disinfo/thought suppression campaign.

It's a definite possibility, since after all, this world has more dark secrets than one can imagine, and most things are not what they appear to be. I don't want to jump to any far out conspiratorial conclusions here. I'm just asserting the possibilities, like a true skeptic does. Either way, there is no question that they have hijacked terms and pretended to be the opposite of what they are.

By hiding behind the mask of critical rational thinkers and skeptics, they've hidden the fact that they are suppressors of new ideas that challenge old paradigms, thus making themselves look forward and progressive, rather than backwards and suppressive.

Now, this form of hiding what you are by pretending to be the opposite of what you are is nothing new. It's a classic form of mind control. MIT professor of linguistics and media critic Noam Chomsky talks here in this video about how the mainstream media in America hides its conservativism for big business interests (which own them) by pretending to be a "liberal voice" for the people.

This forum poster hit the nail on the head about how and why the mainstream media trick us into thinking it is the opposite of what it is:
"The mainstream media often are "liberal" on the "wedge" or "social" issues, such as gay rights, abortion, school prayer, etc. This gives them cover to be absolute reactionaries when it comes to the important issues of preserving vested corporate and governmental interests. The great triumph of the oligarchy in the U.S. is to have used the media that they own to convince voters to vote almost exclusively on these wedge issues, and never to vote their own financial interests because the media prevent them from discerning those interests."
Now this is not suprising given the state of affairs in this world, which this quote eloquently sums up:

"Just look at us. Everything is backwards. Everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information, and religion destroys spirituality." - Michael Ellner

The lesson here is that we all need to wake up and stop believing what people SAY, and start judging them by their ACTIONS. After all, actions speak louder than words, and talk is cheap. We've been lied to and deceived too often in the past. It's time we stop believing everything we are told, even by those in established positions of authority, and start thinking for ourselves. Seek the truth, and you will be closer to finding it.

It is my hope that many more will join us in this journey of truth and liberation from fear mongering, mind control, thought suppression, and limited thinking. Not only is it more liberating, but it is far more exciting and interesting as well. If you are accustomed to living in fear and conformity, then try the opposite for once. Try living in truth, and you will see that it is much more exciting and soul fulfilling. Once you've tasted that, you will never want to go back. Once you go up in consciousness, you will not want to come down.

It is my hope, therefore, that someday you will look back on this article and say "Hey you know, what I read there was right all along!"

Surface Anatomy and Subcutaneous Adipose Tissue Features in the Analysis of the Patterson-Gimlin Film Hominid

The anatomical form of the Patterson - Gimlin film (PGF) hominid has been debated for many years, in terms of musculoskeletal anatomy (if it is biologically real), or costume material flaws (if it is a hoax). What has been neglected however, are comparisons and contrasts of equivalent surface anatomy and subcutaneous adipose features of real human and great ape bodies. Many presumed anomalies seen in the appearance of the film subject have been uncritically attributed to artifacts of a fabricated costume. It has been asserted that these attributes are inconsistent with real musculoskeletal anatomy. An examination of normal human and great ape surface anatomy reveals that the PGF hominid ’s anatomical features are, in fact, found in the superficial tissues of the human body that is aged, lacks superficial physical or athletic tone, or has not been altered by either surgical procedures or digital enhancement (“photoshopped”). The presence of equivalent surface anatomy features in the hominid body that are consistent with observed traits of the PGF hominid nullifies previous claims that such traits of necessity indicate a costume. Rather they are consistent with the conclusion that the PGF hominid indeed represents a novel primate species.

Forensic Evidence
Excerpt from Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science:

Hair Sample Microscope Analysis

The first step in analyzing hair/fiber samples is microscope analysis -- not DNA analysis. DNA analysis is a time consuming, expensive process that should only be directed at hairs that have been been vetted via microscopy first. - Source:

Wolf-Henrich (Henner) Fahrenbach, Ph.D., is widely considered to be adept in the identification of hair and, as of 1999, had accumulated a collection of over a dozen samples thought to be of sasquatch origin.  -  Source:

From 1996:

Henner concludes that 10 samples in three states represent an unknown primate. - Source:

Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization Hair/Fiber Identification Galleries

Dr. Henner Fahrenbach had been receiving, analyzing and vetting hair/fiber samples for the BFRO for the past 12 years or so. He has graciously provided a comparitive microscope slide for reference (included in the linked album...). This sample from Fahrenbach was one of a few (among the many submitted) that he believes may be from a non-human primate. His conclusion in that regard considers a wide variety of factors... - Source:

According to Fahrenback, the hallmark of Sasquatch hair is the absence of an unimportant innermost layer called the medulla. The medulla is often not present in some human hair and scientists has yet to determine the purpose of the medulla.

Fahrenback believes that human and sasquatch hair have considerable similarities, but there are some phylogenetical differences that makes sasquatch hair unique.

The Medulla
The innermost or center portion of the hair shaft is called the medulla. It is composed of round cells, two to five rows across. Thick or coarse hair usually contains a medulla. Fine hair for the most part lacks a medulla, as does naturally blond hair. The purpose of the medulla has not yet been determined

Concerning the search for Bigfoot DNA, I found the results on Monster Quest a few years back to be very promising. If you skip ahead to 41:25 in this clip...

Microbiologist Dr. Kurt Nelson of the University of Minnesota, doing the testing states,"The scientific evidence at this point is suggesting that there really is an animal there." He further states, "I got DNA that was primate DNA and I knew that I might be looking at the DNA of a Sasquatch." The show states that there is only a one in 5000 chance that what he studied was human DNA. This being because, "It was determined that the DNA was 99.4% to 99.6% identical to human DNA.  Chimpanzee DNA is 98.3% the same as human."

As Finding Bigfoot's Cliff Barackman states on his site, "The London Trackway is a unique event in Bigfooting history." This series of 122 (not 120 as shown above) Bigfoot prints resulted in a record shattering 64 successive footprint casts being taken, the former record being 10 according to James "Bobo" Fay.

Print number 10 out of 122.

Barackman notes that:
Every bigfooter that has seen the casts have all walked away from inspecting them with the impression that these are probably the real deal.  These bigfooters include Thom Powell, Guy Edwards, Toby Johnson, Joe Beelart, Autumn Williams, John Kirk, Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Will Robinson,  Derek Randles, Daniel PerezDr. John Bindernagel, Dr. Leila Hadj-ChikhLarry Lund, James "Bobo" Fay, and more (some wish to remain anonymous). Several biologists that are not tied up in bigfoot have also examined them, and all have been very intrigued with what was observed.
A ton of further history and ongoing research data can be found at Barackman's page dedicated to this historic find.

The Skookum Cast
The initial examination of the cast of a partial body print found 9/22/2000 during a BFRO expedition in southern Washington state. The cast is referred to as the "Skookum Cast" because it was found in the Skookum Meadows area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

The photo above shows the cast after most of the mud was removed. Standing beside it at the initial examination outside Seattle, are (from left):
  • Physical Anthropologist and author, Dr. Grover Krantz
  • Journalist and author, John Green
  • Wildlife Biologist and author, Dr. John Bindernagel
Their conclusions: The imprint was not attributable to any recognized animal species. The imprint was most likely made by a living sasquatch.

Primate Anatomist Dr. Jeff Meldrum of Idaho State University (shown below) directed the final cleaning of the cast. The remaining mud was removed in a careful, painstaking manner. Hairs of various animals, including one unidentified primate, were extracted from this final layer of mud.

Green Says Skookum Cast May Be Proof

John Green, a career newspaperman in Canada, has been deeply involved in the the sasquatch investigation since before the first cast of a "Bigfoot" track was made in California in 1958. He is probably more familiar with the mass of evidence accumulated over the years than is any other individual. The following is what he has to say about the Skookum cast.

For more than 40 years I have held the opinion that science can not be convinced of the existence of sasquatches by anything less than physical remains. I have now changed my opinion. I think the Skookum cast can do it, provided that enough influential zoologosts, mammalogists, anatomists, primatologists, etc. will take a serious look at it.

I have had the privilege of being able to spend considerable time examining the cast on two occasions, once before much of the dirt was removed from it and once since, both times in the company of Dr. Grover Krantz and Dr. Jeff Meldrum among others.

On the first occasion dirt still hid most of the dermatoglyphics, the forearm imprint was still just a questionable dirt-covered hump, and estimates of the length of the body parts were largely guesswork. Even then all of the people present, five of whom held doctorates, agreed with the trio who found the imprint that the only thing that could have made it was a huge bipedal primate which had sat down in the mud and then turned on its side.

After that Jeff Meldrum spent several days carefully uncovering the details, revealing consistent hair patterns on all parts of the imprint, including the forearm, and large areas of clear dermal ridges where the heels had dug in.

Since no large creatures except primates have dermal ridges at all, there is no possibility that any animal other than a higher primate could have made the heel imprints. Each species of higher primate has a different pattern, and none has a heel this large. Further, Dr. Meldrum, who is a professor of anatomy, was able to determine the position of the joints for some of the limbs, establishing that the bones were 40 to 50 percent longer than those of a 6-foot human.

The evidence that this imprint was made by a very large, unknown, higher primate is, in my opinion, compelling. I would not anticipate that every qualified person who examines would come to the same conclusion, but I feel sure that the vast majority would have to, whatever their preconceptions.

"Found in a remote area of the Cascade Mountains known as Skookum Meadows, the BFRO team cast the imprint using more than 200 pounds of plaster. Named the 'Skookum Cast,' this monumental piece of Bigfoot evidence is shipped to a laboratory in Seattle for forensic analysis...

Part three of this Bigfoot Special takes us to Seattle where the "Skookum Cast" is tested by some of the worlds leading experts including Dr Jeff Meldrum from Idaho University. All agree this is one of the most significant pieces of Bigfoot physical evidence ever discovered... could we be a step closer to proving the existence of a North America giant ape?" - Source:

Cripple-Foot Prints

Dr. Grover Krantz stated that the nature of the creature’s deformed foot was such that if the prints were a fabrication then whoever made them had to have a superior knowledge of anatomy. Such knowledge, he reasoned, was far beyond that of nonprofessional people. Although the deformed foot appears to show just four toes, it is reasoned that one toe “pushed up” as a result of the deformity so did not touch the ground.

"Wow man, that is a serious article on Big Foot. I don't, and may never really believe in it, until I see one in real life kind of like until I saw a UFO I didn't believe. But this is as close as it gets for me with evidence to making me almost believe." - Source: skywatcher »

"This is a GREAT idea. I have long wanted a website that showcases the best bigfoot evidence that has ever been found, while at the same time eliminating a lot of the garbage as well as the evidence that is highly inconclusive. "Great idea of making this link and putting much of the evidence in one specific area. The one thing that you may consider adding is the statistical data on footprints, strides, and trackways made by Dr. Fahrenbach. I found one link to an outline of this data and will post it here.

Almost all evidence can be hoaxed or faked, but statistics are just data gathered and analyzed and to me are compelling especially the bell curve on footprints that shows a living and reproducing population based on distribution of footprints documented. Skeptics will argue garbage in, garbage out, but this is not what the data shows me. If it is something you and others think should be included, you should be able to find other references to it." - UPs

Craig Sulk Possible Trail Cam Photo of Bigfoot - Finding Bigfoot Episode in Upper Michigan

Hunter or Sasquatch? Finding Bigfoot episode in Upper Michigan

MENOMINEE -- On Sunday night Animal Planet aired an episode of Finding Bigfoot titled Super Yooper Sasquatch.

The team traveled outside of Menominee to meet with hunting guide Craig Sulk who owns 80 acres of land. One of Sulk's trail cams captured an unexplainable dark figure.

Is the dark figure a hunter or Sasquatch?

In the episode they also hold a meeting with residents, discovering many claim to have encountered the mysterious creature.

The segment aired at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday evening and 12 and 5 a.m. Monday. - Source:

Undebunking Bigfoot blog commentary:

The photo's owner Craig Sulk argued strongly on the "Super Yooper" Finding Bigfoot episode, that the dark figure in the photograph was not likely a hunter, as the snapshot was a unique sight among the many thousands of trail photos he views each year. Plus he notes, it was taken on his private property, where he contended it's well known around those parts, not to trespass because the area is protected by its gun-toting owners.

The Finding Bigfoot team placed stocky 6'4" James "Bobo" Fay at the same location as the pictured figure, in what investigator Cliff Barackman estimated was within a few feet, five tops, of where the original pictured subject stood. The figure was determined to be very comparable in overall size to Fay, certainly looking to haven't had quite as broad of shoulders as the large Finding Bigfoot investigator did. Bobo's more than average size aside, (a height that would only take Michael Jordan two inches above Fay when side-by-side and certainly Jordan is less wide)  it was clear from the comparison photo shot---that Bobo---was just that---Bobo---the human---wearing clothes---and bearing no resemblance to the dark figure's hue.

After the recreation, Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) founder and Finding Bigfoot investigator, Matt Moneymaker, argued:
The fact that it's his [Bobo's] size or smaller though, doesn't eliminate the chance that it's a Sasquatch, because they're also that size as well. They grow from being very small to growing up. I think if it had been a person, I think you'd see a difference in the amount of reflectivity, or darkness between the top and the bottom there and you don't. It's as if it's all covered with the same color fur.

New Mexico Sasquatch Thermal Analysis

The recreation on "Finding Bigfoot" put the figure at 7 to 7 1/2 feet tall.

Russian Boys Film Bigfoot/Yeti

In the latest issue of the Bigfoot Times, veteran Bigfoot researcher Daniel Perez, writes, "I find the Russian video extremely interesting: multiple witnesses, a film of the subject, tracks in the snow and evidence of something altering the trees/bushes in the exact proximity of where the subject was seen." It was shown on one TV program I watched that Igor Burtsev estimates the height of the figure at 7 feet based on bite marks he believes it made on one of the trees it is seen by. Chewing on tree branches is a behavior his research indicates is consistent with the Yeti.
